As a member of the programming team, I helped to bring this extraordinary project to life. The tour uses the latest technology, combining mixed reality glasses (NREAL Light) and Bluetooth headphones to create a world-first digital experience. Visitors can explore the city of Essen as it was in 1887, with stagecoaches, historical buildings, and people dressed in period costumes, all coming to life before their very eyes. The characters interact with visitors, adding an extra layer of realism to the experience.
Experience a journey through time like never before with "Essen 1887 - A Mixed Reality Time Travel." This innovative city tour offers a digital experience that is currently unique in the world, immersing visitors in the sights and sounds of Essen's past with mixed reality technology. The tour has already been awarded the Gold prize in the Tourism category at the World Media Festivals in Hamburg and has won the Tourism Innovation Award in Seville, Spain, for its exceptional customer experience.
As part of the programming team, I worked alongside historian and head of tourism Lars Büttner and filmmaker Nicola Schwedt to create a compelling storyline, engaging characters, and an immersive digital environment that transports visitors to another time. The project was also brought to life by scriptwriter and director Florian Seibert, who helped to create the virtual world and its characters.
