Schumann VR
I played a pivotal role in the development and conceptual design of the iPad-supported augmented reality exhibition and was also a vital member of the programming team for the virtual reality experience of SCHUMANN VR. This innovative installation offers an immersive and interactive journey through the life and work of Robert and Clara Schumann, set in the Romantic era of Düsseldorf in 1850.
SCHUMANN VR combines state-of-the-art technologies such as motion capture, 3D scans, and volumetric capturing with historically accurate reproductions of artifacts, city maps, engravings, and old photos, creating a truly unique and multi-sensory experience. By using iPads, visitors can explore unique artifacts and learn important biographical details of the Schumanns in a playful way.
The virtual reality experience takes visitors on a tour of historically accurate reproductions of Düsseldorf's old town, with support from smell and movement simulation, which enhances the overall illusion and makes the experience even more lifelike. The installation aims to appeal not only to classical music enthusiasts but also to those interested in history and entertainment.
The development of SCHUMANN VR was achieved by a team of creatives, programmers, CGI experts, city historians, archivists, and classical music experts. The installation is a testament to how the latest technologies can bring the past to life in a completely new and innovative way. Overall, SCHUMANN VR is a breathtaking and technologically-leading experience that showcases the power of augmented and virtual reality.
